RETIREMENT, TROPICAL LIVING, OFFSHORE BANKING AND CORPORATIONS: WHY BELIZE?

From Barrons to International Living to MSN Money there have been a string of articles in the last few years about making your pension and social security dollars go farther by living overseas. Belize is a great choice in this regard. Not only is the Caribbean nation a good place to live but the climate is tropical and Belize is an excellent location to set up offshore banking and an offshore corporation.   What and where is Belize?   Belize was British Honduras until 1973 although it gained its independence in 1964. The society is diverse with English, Spanish, and Creole spoken. Mexico lies to the North and Guatemala to the West while on the East is the Caribbean Sea and the world's second longest barrier reef system. Belize has a third of a million people living on just less than 9,000 square miles of land, giving it one of the world's lowest population densities. Belize is the only nation in Latin America to be a member of the British Commonwealth.   Making the Most of Your Retirement Savings in Belize   Belize typically comes up in these discussions as a safe, cheap, English speaking nation on the Caribbean with ... [more..]

A BEACHFRONT VILLA HOTEL ON AMBERGRIS CAYE

For unparalleled luxury in Belize check out Pelican Reef Villas Resort on Ambergris Caye A beachfront villa hotel on Ambergris Caye has everything going for it, and the Pelican Reef Villas Resort doesn't disappoint. This is an absolutely top class luxury hotel and resort, based on the rental of owned condos and villasThis is the kind of secluded very upmarket place that would make for the perfect Belize Honeymoon Package. The villas are very spacious, very comfortable, and seem very new, with glorious views of the sea. If you have a two bedroom villa, then you will have two sundecks, one outside the master bedroom, and a great place to sit in the morning looking out and just relaxing in a dressing gown, whilst the birds cavort around, and the noises from the undergrowth are the way you know you are in the tropics. There can be some confusion over when is a resort like this actually a self catering holiday, and when is it a hotel. Pelican Reef Villas Resort actually doesn't have a restaurant, a lounge, so there are no meals, but there is a swim up bar in the pool, and a full service bar. What really qualifies Pelican Reef ... [more..]

A CARIBBEAN PARADISE IN PLACENCIA BELIZE

A famous beachfront resort owned by Francis Ford Coppola in Placencia Belize called Turtle Inn would make a great romantic honeymoon destination Described as a Caribbean Paradise this five star beachfront resort owned by Francis Ford Coppola consists of a small cluster of thatch roof cottages on the beach just north of the small town of Placencia. With only 12 rooms, a mixture of palm thatched villas and cabanas or casitas depending on which name you prefer, Turtle Inn very much fits in with the boutique hotel concept, and is quietly exclusive. It seems to manage the almost impossible by being a great family vacation destination whilst at the same time being a romantic honeymoon destination. The Casitas here are just lovely. Large rooms, and laid out to be spacious, amazing décor, and a nice porch. They have indoor and outdoor showers and a large private deck. To organise one on the beach would be a huge bonus, and there is a special cabana/casita as a honeymoon suite right on the beach, so if this is your romantic honeymoon destination, you know what you need to book!! You may be slightly alarmed at the prospect of no air conditioning in the cabanas, but ... [more..]

AN ECO RESORT ON SOUTH WATER CAYE BELIZE

A Belize Family Vacation is very popular in this day and age, but most people who look for a beachfront location end up on Ambergris Caye, which is becoming more and more developed. A Belize Island more accurately referred to as a Caye, that is worth a good look at is South Water Caye, and especially Pelicans Pouch South Water Caye, which is an Eco resort, and a great place for a Belize Family Vacation. Pelicans Pouch South Water Caye has only twelve rooms, and whilst the accommodation is a little basic with solar powered lighting and showers, they subdivide into cottages or rooms, each of the cottages with two bedroom units which can be individually occupied. The 8 cottage rooms have private entrances, one Queen Size bed, and a twin or double bed. They all have environmentally friendly technology for not only the power, but also water and garbage disposal. How this works is the water supply is from stored rainwater, then pumped under pressure, so following the instructions to Rinse-Get Soapy, then Rinse is important, turning off the water in between each stage. Sunshine charges photoelectric cells and the charged batteries are used for lighting refrigerators and fans. You won't ... [more..]
